Salty, savory and the cream cheese nicely balances the heat. Another great feature is controlling the heat, depending on personal tastes, by keeping as many seeds and ribbing as you like. Oh, wear gloves if you’re preparing very many!

So easy to doctor up, too, I’ve added shredded cheddar, sundried tomato, and herbs to the cream cheese, and have brushed the bacon with BBQ sauce before baking. They freeze well too, so make a bunch and flash freeze some for a future last minute app. Definitely definitely wear gloves, and don’t touch your face until you’ve washed your hands!
