I'm new to all this, being recently married and not much of a cook - my career took priority over food! Ree you've inspired me to enter the kitchen and cook up a storm... I actully enjoy experimenting and an added bonus is my husband loves whatever I make!

Creamed corn over biscuits with crisp bacon on the side. That was my father's favorite thing to cook for the kids on Sunday morning. He made the creamed corn from scratch, either using fresh corn he cut off the cobs or frozen, whole kernel corn. He started with a bechamel sauce in a large cast iron frying pan and added cream or buttermilk and he really spiced up everything. He made the biscuits from scratch, too. This all had something to do with his childhood favorite breakfast in Knoxville, Tennessee. (Another thing he liked was leftover cornbread crumbled into a tall class with buttermilk poured over it. We all said "ewww!" but he dug into it like it was a Dairy Queen milkshake.) I don't know why we liked the creamed corn breakfast so much but it was really GOOD!

We hit some hard times there for awhile. My husband has always taken care of us, better than I could ever have expected when I met him in high school and he didn't have a job. Today he is working a 12 hour shift, same as always. 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, until they don't have to anymore- last announced date is December. We miss him so much...
