Description

I one-upped Colonel Sanders and used 12 herbs and spices for my crispy, juicy fried chicken. I added a shot or two of hot sauce to push the flavor over the edge.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Broiler/fryer Chicken (2-1/2 To 3-1/2 Pounds), Cut Up
  • 3 Tablespoons Lisa’s Seasoning Mix, Recipe Below
  • 2 Tablespoons Hot Sauce
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 4 cups Cooking Oil
  • _____
  • FOR THE SEASONING MIX:
  • 2 Tablespoons Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Ground Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons Paprika
  • 2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Onion Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Celery Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley
  • ½ Tablespoons Dried Thyme
  • ½ Tablespoons Poultry Seasoning
  • ½ Tablespoons Oregano

Preparation

1. Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and add 3 tablespoons of the Lisa’s Seasoning Mix* and the hot sauce, massage the seasoning into the chicken. Place 1 cup flour in a large brown bag; add chicken, a few pieces at a time. Roll the bag tightly and shake to coat. Remove the chicken from the bag and shake off excess flour.

2. Heat the oil to 350 F in a deep pot or deep fryer. Do not fill the pot more than 1/2 full with oil. Fry the chicken in the oil until brown and crisp. Dark meat takes longer than white meat. It should take dark meat about 13 to 14 minutes, white meat around 8 to 10 minutes. If you are in doubt about the doneness of your meat, you can place chicken in a 250 F oven for 10-15 minutes or until chicken juices run clear.

3. Remove chicken from the oil and let drain on paper towels.

* Seasoning Mix ~ Combine all listed ingredients. Yields 1 Cup (remaining seasoning will last for months in an air tight container).

This is hands down the BEST fried chicken recipe EVER! I just made it for my daughters birthday and we had 20 people over and they devoured it! It looks like perfection and it tastes amazing too! That spice blend is totally the key!

OMG Just made this. I thought I was a good chicken fryer but there is nothing as good as this chicken! I will never make fried chicken any other way. If you don’t try it, you will regret it. Make sure and brine your chicken first, you will love it!

I have been looking for a way to put a “scald” on my fried chicken. I am more of a gourmet cook, and cooking true “southern style” can be a bit of a challenge for me (even though I was raised in the South). THIS recipe is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Perfect balance of seasonings and like other cooks have said, “my hubby was a happy camper.” This is definitely a keeper.

I made this for my boyfriend yesterday and let me tell you it was out of this world awesome!!! He’s allergic to gluten and this is one of his favorite foods that he has got to have for years since he went gluten free so I was scared to death to try and make him fried chicken but I just modified your recipe by using half crushed corn flakes and half gluten free all purpose flour and it turned out so crunchy and juicy and I even took the skin off before seasoning and flouring to save on the fat and calories. Your combination of seasoning is fantastic and the hot sauce adds just a little spice without making it hot. Love love love it!!!!

Was ok. I prefer a little more kick and felt the seasoning was a little bland.

I actually registered here simply to be able to review this recipe!

Girl – this seasoning mix should be patented, jarred and SOLD!

I have been trying to perfect my fried chicken technique for 2 years – – my seasonings never had enough “uumpph!” – – this recipe is what I was missing!

I omitted hot sauce (husband can’t tolerate hot sauce) and added a couple of tablespoons of spice mix to flour.

By far the BEST fried chicken seasoning ever!

I like that you have such an easy way of frying chicken – – I have been following recipes that say “cover for first 15 mins” uncover, etc etc – – – my chicken tonight was a complete success!

I just got a cast-iron skillet and knew the best thing to make to season it was fried chicken…and the seasoning mix in this recipe is DIVINE. Thank you for making homemade fried chicken easy and lip-smackingly delicious!
