Description

I’ve been called “evil” because of this recipe. Finger in my face, “you are Evil for giving me this recipe!” You can make this delicious bit of heaven and dip Honey Crisp apples in it or pour it over vanilla ice cream. Now I know what the cooks on TV mean when they say: “Make your own caramel sauce.” I always would just buy store-bought. No more!

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Honey
  • 1 stick Butter
  • ¾ cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 can (14 Oz. Can) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • To Serve: Apples Or Vanilla Ice Cream Or Whatever!

Preparation

Mix together honey, butter and sugar in saucepan. Turn on medium-high heat while stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a rolling bubbling boil for 2 minutes while continuing to stir constantly. Add condensed milk and mix well, keeping the stirring and heat constant until completely mixed through.

Store in airtight containers in the fridge. To warm up, use a microwave on a low setting.

This was really good but I think when I make it again I will use dark brown sugar.

Did you use unsalted butter? Or salted butter?

Can’t wait to make this – I’m visiting friends this weekend and taking a ‘care package’ down of various canned, preserved, baked goods, so this will make a wonderful addition to the box – thank you for the post :)

Wow, so glad I found this. I have been spending too much money on Oikos Caramel yogurt and needed a good caramel sauce to put in plain Greek yogurt. So excited to try this!

Not sure what I did wrong. Ended up tasting like warm brown sugar sauce

Really good! I made an addition of cinnamon to go with a Dutch apple pie a la mode. I’ve noticed that different types of honey make a huge difference in flavor. I’ve made some that was very bitter and some that was really floral etc but it’s always tasty!

So delicious! Mine does have a stronger condensed milk taste than I hoped for, but it’s still scrumptious so no complaints!

This was super easy, and tastes delicious. I only gave it four mitts, though, because you can definitely taste the honey. Hubs said, “I’m not sure I’d call this a caramel sauce,” stating he could taste the honey right away. Good, though! Maybe a dark brown sugar would make it taste more caramelized.

I made this to go on a pumpkin cheesecake for Thanksgiving and realized I had half a jar left in the fridge the other day. Needless to say my spoon was quickly scraping the bottom of the empty jar. Love the way the honey enhances the flavor. I added sea salt to deepen the flavor. Delicious!
