Description

No packets or mayo necessary for this easy, creamy dip—the secret is sauteed onions and Greek yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 whole Medium Onion, Sliced Thin
  • ⅓ cups Sour Cream
  • ⅓ cups 2% Greek Yogurt
  • Salt And Freshly Ground Pepper, To Taste

Preparation

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and season with salt and pepper. Saute until they begin to soften and become golden, about 10 minutes. Cover skillet and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, covered, until onions are very tender, about 10 more minutes. Transfer onions, scraping up any browned bits at bottom of the pot, to a bowl and let cool for 10 minutes.

Add onions, sour cream and yogurt to the bowl of a food processor and pulse until well mixed and the onions are mostly, but not completely chopped. You can alternately chop the onions very fine by hand and fold all the ingredients together with a rubber spatula. May be stored in an airtight container for up to two days.

Oh my goodness – this sound sooooo good. I caramelized onions, as well as Greek yogurt! This is a must try for me.

Thanks for sharing it!!

I made this for Superbowl Sunday, instead of the yucky store-bought stuff. All of the boys loved it, and it was gone within an hour. So so so good! And way healthier than that other stuff,

I make mine almost this exact same way, but double the yogurt. That tang from the greek yogurt is perfect in this recipe. I sometimes add some raw green onions at the end.

This is divine! I made it because I was looking for a healthier alternative dip. It’s simple and delicious. I took it to a happy hour get together and everyone was surprised when I told them it was “healthy”.

I just wanted to come back and review this since the changes to the site!

I have made this on at least 3 occasions, and it is perfect every time. I will say it is VERY rare(near impossible) for me to make a recipe with no changes, but this is one of those!

I pulse quickly so it stays nice and coarse like the recipe says and it is delicious, everyone loves it!
