Description

Homemade and spicy with just a hint of smoky flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • ½  Red Bell Pepper, chopped
  • ½  Green Bell Pepper, Chopped
  • ½  Onion, Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Chopped
  • 1  Jalapeno, Chopped
  • ¾ pounds Lean Ground Beef
  • ½ teaspoons Dried Mexican Oregano (Or Regular Dried Oregano)
  • 1 teaspoon Chipotle Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Pasilla Chili Powder
  • 3 teaspoons Chili Powder
  • 1 can (14 1/2 Oz. Size) Cut Tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 cans (15 Oz. Size) Black Beans
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Cumin
  • ½ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1-½ teaspoon Salt (or Salt To Taste)
  • ½ teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Dried Red Pepper Flakes (Optional, Or Add More To Taste)
  • 2 Tablespoons Masa Flour
  • FOR THE TOPPING (optional):
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • ½ cups Sour Cream
  • 3 Tablespoons Chopped Onion
  • 1  Avocado, Chopped

Preparation

Heat a large pot on medium heat and add the olive oil. Add the green and red bell peppers, onion, garlic and jalapeno to the pan and stir. Add the ground beef to the pan and stir. Then add the oregano, chipotle chili powder, pasilla chili powder, chili powder, and stir.

Add the cut tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, black beans and stir. Next add the cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, masa flour, and stir. Let simmer for about 45 minutes or until the desired consistency is met.

Serve topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream, onions, and avocado.
