Description
Delicious! This chili is served at the Pumpkin Show in Circleville, Ohio.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
- 2 whole Large Onions, Chopped
- 2 teaspoons Salt, Or To Taste
- 1 teaspoon Pepper Or To Taste
- 4 Tablespoons Sugar
- 4 teaspoons Chili Powder
- 1 can (2 Lb.) Light Red Kidney Beans
- 8 Tablespoons Canned Pumpkin
- 4 teaspoons Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1 can (15 Oz.) Tomato Sauce
- 2 cans ( 1 Qt. 14 Oz. Each) Tomato Juice
Preparation
Brown the ground beef with onion, salt, pepper, sugar and chili powder.
Drain and rinse the kidney beans and add to the beef when it has completely cooked.
Then add the pumpkin and pumpkin spice along with the tomato sauce and juice. Simmer for about 1 hour.

I was happy to see this unusual recipe. Am always looking for new uses for pumpkin. Comfort food at it’s best. Makes a person want to go to Circleville to check out other recipes with this great vegetable in them. Thank you for posting.
