Description

This chili definitely has some kick, but not overwhelmingly so. Best served with shredded sharp cheddar, sour cream, and chopped raw onion. Don’t forget the cornbread too!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Chuck
  • 1 pound Hot Italian Sausage, Casings Removed And Broken Into Chunks
  • 1 whole Green Bell Pepper, Diced
  • 1 whole Onion, Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • ¼ cups Chili Powder
  • 12 ounces, fluid Beer Of Your Choice
  • 1 whole 40 Oz. Can Dark Red Kidney Beans
  • 1 whole (28 Oz. Can) Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 whole (28 Oz. Can) Tomato Sauce
  • 1 whole Packet Hot Cocoa Mix (NOT With Marshmallows)
  • 2 whole Jalapeno Peppers, Seeded And Finely Diced
  • 1 whole Habenero Pepper, Top Cut Off
  • 1 whole Hot Cherry Pepper, Top Cut Off

Preparation

1. In large pot, brown beef and sausage. Drain.

2. Add green pepper, onion, garlic, and chili powder. Stir and cook 2-3 minutes.

3. Add beer and stir to loosen any browned bits on bottom of pot.

4. Add remaining ingredients, and bring to a boil.

5. Reduce heat and simmer covered 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

6. Remove lid and simmer another 1-1 1/2 hours, or until desired consistency, stirring occasionally.

7. Remove habenero and cherry peppers before serving.
