Description

The perfect side dish for barbecues, picnics or for Fourth of July!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Bacon
  • ½ whole Large Onion, Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 2 cans (11 Oz. Size) Pork And Beans
  • ¼ cups Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Molases
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ cups Red Wine
  • ¼ teaspoons Chili Powder (or More To Taste)

Preparation

Baking method:
Preheat oven to 350ºF.

In a Dutch oven or a large oven safe pot, cook bacon until fully cooked and crispy. Remove from the pan but leave the oil in the pan. Crumble bacon once it has cooled.

Add onion to pot and cook for 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Stir in cooked bacon, beans, ketchup, molases, brown sugar, Worcestershire, red wine and chili powder. Cover and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Stir occasionally.

Stovetop method:
Cook bacon in a large pot until fully cooked and crispy. Remove from pan but leave the oil in the pan. Crumble bacon once it has cooled.

Add onion to pan and cook for 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Stir in cooked bacon, beans, ketchup, molases, brown sugar, Worcestershire, red wine and chili powder. Simmer 30–35 minutes covered, stirring occasionally.
