Description

With colorful peas and crunchy water chestnuts, a filling and tasty side or vegetarian main dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Uncooked Rice
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce (not If Vegetarian)
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 2 whole Onions, Sliced
  • 11 ounces, weight Canned Sliced Water Chestnuts
  • 4 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons Tomato Ketchup
  • ½ teaspoons Sriracha Sauce Or To Taste
  • 2 Tablespoons Sesame Oil
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup Frozen Peas, Thawed

Preparation

1. Cook the rice according to package instructions, adding Worcestershire sauce (if using) to the cooking water.

2. In a large skillet (or a wok), heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for 3 minutes, until slightly browned and tender. Add the sliced water chestnuts and sauté for 3 more minutes.

3. Add the rice, soy sauce, ketchup, Sriracha and sesame oil. Season with salt and pepper, stir well and cook on medium heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring regularly. Add the peas, stir and cook for 3 more minutes, until they are warm. Adjust seasoning, serve warm.
