I have made a couple of attempts at baked beans with no success, so I thought, what about ‘not’ baked beans? Sounds like a winner, right? I just put everything in the pot and cooked them on the stove., only to come up with something so wonderful, I had to share with you all.
Put cleaned beans in a large stock pot and cover with the water. Add onion, 3 cloves of garlic, bacon and bouillon. Boil for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. When beans are almost done, add all the other ingredients including the remaining 5 cloves of garlic grated on a microplane. Cook until beans are tender.
During the first 1-1/2 hours you may have to add more water. You should never let your beans run out of water. They should always have enough water coming up to the edge of the top of the beans.
