Description

This are the ultimate pot luck dish. They will please even the non-bean lovers. When we have big get-to-gethers, I multiply the recipe by 4 or 6 and put it in a big roaster oven. I can’t remember the last time I had leftovers of this dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • ½ pounds Bacon
  • 1 cup Onion, Chopped
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Pork & Beans
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Ranch Beans
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Baby Lima Beans
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Can) Kidney Beans
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar, Packed
  • ½ cups Barbeque Sauce (smokier The Better)
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Dry Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Preparation

Cut bacon into small pieces (for easier cooking). Place ground beef, bacon and onions into a skillet and lightly brown. Drain. In a stock pot or crock pot, put the meat mixture and all the remaining ingredients together and mix. Cook on low to medium heat until mixture is warm and bubbly. I usually cook it for 1 hour on Medium in my crock pot.

This is a wonderful make-ahead recipe. I make the meat mixture the night before and add the remaining ingredients and then place it in the fridge (gives it time to get acquainted). The next day, I put it in the crockpot to warm while I get ready. Grab the crock pot and you are ready to go!
