Description

These beans are simple and easy to make, but they pack huge flavor. They’re thick and rich with a great balance of sweet, savory, and tangy.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons Bacon Fat (or Canola/vegetable Oil)
  • 2 whole Medium Yellow Onions, Diced To 1/4"
  • ½ cups Molasses
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Plain Yellow Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Tiger Sauce (or Your Favorite Hot Sauce)
  • 1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2 cans (55 Oz. Can) Bush's Original Baked Beans
  • 3 cans (15 Oz. Can) Original Ranch Style Beans (or Chili Beans)

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 325ºF.

Heat a medium pan over medium-high heat.

Add the bacon fat/oil and let heat 30 seconds.

Add the onions and cook until they are translucent and just barely starting to brown on the edges.

Remove the pan from the heat.

Add all of the other ingredients, except the beans, to the pan and stir to mix well.

Add the beans (do not drain them) to a large deep baking dish. Note: I use disposable aluminum lasagna pans.

Add the onion and sauce mixture to the beans, and stir to combine well.

Cover the pan with foil and bake for 90 minutes.

Remove the foil, stir, and bake another 30 minutes.

Serve and enjoy!

I make mine quite similarly. But, I like spicy food, so I will chunk up a fresh jalapeno or two (depending on the rest of my diners that evening).

Made these for a big family gathering and they went over very well! I added some bacon as well.
Very good and easy recipe!

These beans taste just like the ones you get from a BBQ restaurant. I made these for my super bowl party and they were a hit. It makes a huge amount, so be prepared for lots of leftovers. I made the recipe as written, but added some brown sugar as well. I dont think the brown sugar was needed. The flavor is very good as is.
