Description

Easy homemade tater tots with smoked Gouda cheese and green apple!

Ingredients

  • 4 whole Russet Potatoes
  • 3 whole Green Apples, Peeled, Cored And Grated
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1-½ cup Shredded Smoked Gouda Cheese
  • Olive Oil

Preparation

1. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for 15-20 minutes, until you can stick a fork into the potato, but it is still firm in the middle. Remove from heat and remove potatoes from water. Let potatoes cool for a few minutes and then peel the skin off. Grate potatoes using a box grater and place in a large bowl.

2. Heat a very small amount of oil in a large saute pan over medium heat. Add the grated apples and saute for about 3 minutes, until just beginning to soften. Remove from heat.

3. Add the green apple into the bowl of shredded potatoes and then add the salt and shredded cheese. Mix potato mixture with your hands until everything is evenly distributed. Form mixture into bite-sized cylinders and place onto a sheet pan covered in parchment paper. Place tater tots in the freezer for about ten minutes until they have firmed up. Preheat oven to 450 F.

4. Cover another large sheet pan with parchment paper and lay tater tots on the pan, spacing them evenly. Place into the heated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, flipping halfway though.
