Description

Yummy, gooey, comfort food! Goes best with creamy tomato basil soup.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Cream Cheese, Softened
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dry Mustard Powder, Start Small
  • 4 cups Shredded Cheese, Variety
  • 1 loaf Sourdough Bread
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, Softened

Preparation

Place cream cheese in a large glass bowl. Microwave for about 30 seconds to soften. Using a hand mixer, beat it slightly to “lighten” it up. This could be done by hand, but would take more time and energy. :D

Add the onion powder and dry mustard powder. Start small on the mustard powder, and add more as needed. This really highlights the flavor of the cheese.

Add the shredded cheese. I usually have cheddar, Colby, and jack…or whatever is leftover or on sale! This makes a lot of filling, and there will be enough for 2 meals for a family of 6 (or 4 big eaters like us!)

Turn on your skillet or griddle, med heat is fine. You don’t want it so hot that your bread will burn before the cheesy goodness melts.

Slice the bread, and generously butter one side of each piece. Scoop the filling on and press it onto the bread. It will have the consistency of Playdough.

If you like (and I do!) generously crack some black pepper, or add a tomato slice. Top with the other piece of bread. The buttered sides should face out.

Cook for a couple minutes per side. Let it cool slightly before attempting to slice or eat. :D
