Description

I had a sandwich like this at a local gourmet deli. I took the idea, turned it into a panini and made my own sauce.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE ASSEMBLY:
  • 1 loaf Italian Bread
  • 1 block (5-8 Oz. Block) Brie
  • 1 package (about 9 Oz. Package) Turkey Lunch Meat
  • 10 slices Red Sweet Apple
  • _____
  • FOR THE APPLE BUTTER MIXTURE:
  • 1 teaspoon Mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard
  • 3 Tablespoons Apple Butter

Preparation

Heat a fry pan or a panini pan over medium-low heat.

Slice the Italian bread to your liking. Spray each side of the bread slices with cooking spray, or you can also spread with butter or olive oil and brown bread in the pan for a few minutes on each side. (I like the entire sandwich to be crispy.)

For the apple butter sauce, combine the mayo, mustard and apple butter. You can adjust amounts according to your taste.

Now it’s time to construct the sandwich. I like to start with the brie so it has time to get nice and melted. So spread that onto half of the slices of bread. Then add the turkey and thin slices of apple on top of that. Spread the top piece of bread with the apple butter mixture and place the apple butter side of the bread on top of the apple slices. Now, your sandwich is built and you just need to put it back into your skillet and brown the outside of the bread to your liking.
