Description

A deep dish pizza, made with fresh tomatoes and basil, topped with mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole 12" Pie Crust (store Bought Or Your Favorite Recipe)
  • 3 whole Medium Tomatoes, Sliced
  • 6 whole Plum Tomatoes, Sliced
  • ½ teaspoons Oregano, Divided
  • 10 leaves Basil, Sliced
  • 2 cups Spinach, Fresh, Roughly Chopped
  • 2 cups Pasta Sauce Or Pizza Sauce
  • 1 cup Light Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded

Preparation

Preheat oven to 450 F.

Line a pie plate with your pie crust. Add one layer of tomatoes, sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon oregano, 5 basil leaves, 2 cups of spinach.

Create a second layer by adding remaining tomatoes, sprinkle with oregano and remaining basil leaves.

Pour pasta sauce over the tomatoes and evenly spread with the back of a spoon. Top with mozzarella cheese.

Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is lightly golden.

I had to cook it longer than it said. So next time I think I will cook it without the cheese for a little bit first… But my husband and I loved this recipe it was super delicious and a great way to use up some of the tomatoes from our garden!!!
