Description

Tavern food, as my husband calls this. Ree would call it a “Man Sandwich.” I call it warm, delicious and very filling. Beef, peppers and onions, with “something” that makes it stand out. That “something” is KRAFT Greek Vinaigrette dressing.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups KRAFT Greek Vinaigrette Dressing
  • 1 whole Onion, Cut In Half And Sliced Thin
  • 1 whole Green Bell Pepper, Cut Into Thin Strips
  • ½ pounds Roast Beef, Shaved (deli Is Fine)
  • 4 whole Sub Or Hoagie Rolls, Not Too Bread-y Or Soft, Chewy Is Best
  • Mild Banana Pepper Rings, To Serve On Top

Preparation

Heat the KRAFT Greek dressing in a large nonstick pan over medium heat. When simmering, increase heat slightly, add thinly sliced onions to the dressing and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the green bell peppers and cook until tender with some crunch left, about 10 minutes total. Add roast beef and toss to coat with dressing and heat through, about 2 minutes. If you think it needs more dressing, add a little more.

Slice rolls while ingredients are cooking, pile peppers, onions and beef onto roll and top with desired amount of banana pepper rings. Serve immediately.

This is a version of a recipe from Kraft. I have changed it considerably and feel as though it is my own. It is SO much better with the Greek Vinaigrette than with Zesty Italian. I also think MILD banana peppers do this more justice than hot—you can enjoy the flavors! This never fails to please guests.

I make something similar but use BBQ sauce and carmelize the onions. I have never had the Gree dressing but surely worth a try after reading your recipe…………thanks
