Description

I got this recipe from my mom and it is now my “go to” recipe when I cook chicken on the grill. It is a little sweet, a little tangy, and when you add the optional red pepper flakes there is a little “hot” in there, too. And I have yet to end up with a dry piece of chicken. The marinade seeps into the meat and leaves it flavorful and juicy all the way through.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Olive Oil
  • ½ cups Rice Vinegar
  • ½ cups Soy Sauce
  • ½ cups Green Onions, Chopped
  • 3 Tablespoons Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Tablespoon Ground Ginger (you Can Add Another Tbsp If You Like Ginger)
  • 1 Tablespoon Dry Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic, Pressed Or Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 2 pounds Boneless Chicken Pieces

Preparation

Whisk all ingredients but chicken together in a glass or plastic bowl. Submerge the chicken in the marinade. Cover tightly and let marinate in the refrigerator for up to 12 hours, turning the chicken occasionally.

Grill on medium high heat until cooked through. This is delicious served with Asian cabbage salad or lo mein noodles!

This truly is an amazing marinade recipe. I’ve used it on both chicken and steak with amazing results. We usually grill the chicken on our GF grill and it turns out perfectly every time. We normally use it to top a big dinner salad with and my husband doesn’t even use dressing with it. YUM!
Oh, and I don’t normally have sesame seeds as well, but I do put a few drops of sesame oil in it for flavor, though it’s great without it as well. I’ve also substituted minced onions for the green onions in a pinch and it was still fabulous.

I used this marinade last night and it was great. The chicken had good color and flavor and was very moist. I will definetly use this again. (I did not use the seseme seeds only because I didn’t have any in the house but it was just fine without.)
