Description

The sweet onions, tart apples and savory pork combines to make a meal you won’t soon forget!

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Yellow Onions, Sliced Into Half Moons
  • 3 whole Granny Smith Apples, Peeled And Sliced 1/4-inch Thick
  • ⅓ cups Brown Sugar
  • 4 whole Bone-in Pork Loin Chops
  • Kosher Salt And Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place the onion slices in an even layer over the bottom of the dish. Top the onion slices with the apples. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the apples and onions. Season the pork chops generously on both sides with salt and pepper. Arrange the pork chops in a single layer on top of the apples and onions. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for three hours. Do not open the oven and lift the foil—the pork chops, apples and onions need to be tightly covered the whole time to work their magic (and not dry out).

Serve each pork chop with Parmesan smashed potatoes and topped with the apples and onions.

I also made these last night and loved them!! The meat just fell off the bones. I woke up at 3:30 am for some reason and could still smell the onion/apple scent in the air! Thank you for the easy idea!

So amazing, made them on the weekend and everyone was crazy about them. I would switch the ratio and make it three onions and two apples but, they were great the way they were thats just my taste.

This recipe was great. The caramelized apples and onions were really good with the mashed potatoes too. The whole family loved it!

I REALLY don’t like onions, however the onions in this dish were delicious. Easy and fantastic dinner – thank you!

I was craving pork last night and decided to try this and I was so glad that I did! The pork was tender and juicy with a sweetness from the brown sugar and apple and a little bit of zest from the onion. It was absolutely delightful. Because I was only cooking for 2.5 I used just one onion (half red, half yellow) and I didn’t have any granny smith apples on hand and used a gala instead (and only used 1/2 TBSP to compensate for the apple’s sweetness). Served it with sour cream mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus. Both DH and I were licking our plates clean!
