Description

Everyone has their own favorite way to make this easy, hearty, comfort food. This one has some extra ingredients that make it totally delicious!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 1 can (26 Oz Family Sized Can ) Cream Of Mushroom Soup
  • ½ cans Milk (use Your Green Bean Can)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese
  • 1 container (6 Oz Size) French's French Fried Onions
  • 2 cans (14 Oz Each) Cut Green Beans, Drained
  • 4 pounds Frozen Tater Tots
  • Seasoned Salt, To Taste

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a large family-sized skillet over medium heat, brown meat and chopped onion adding salt and pepper to taste. Once beef is browned, drain off any grease. Add soup, milk and cheese. Stir in half of the french fried onions and the drained green beans.

Spray an over-sized casserole dish with non-stick spray (I used my deep dish rectangle 9×13 baker from Pampered Chef). Place a single layer of tater tots in a row, covering the bottom of your pan completely, then cover with the meat mixture. Add another layer of tater tots until meat mixture is covered. Sprinkle lightly with seasoned salt to taste.

Top evenly with remaining french fried onions. Bake uncovered at 350 F for 45-60 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown.

My mom used to make this when I was a kid, she just mixed up the layers, bottom was the meat, then the fried onions, then the green beans, and then the tater tots on top. Reminds me of coming home from school on a cold day.

I really liked this casserole. The tator tots were crispy and it tasted very good. I was afraid it would taste like green bean casserole, but it didn’t. I used the 98% fat free soup since the other ingredients had enough fat in them.
