Description

My husband’s favorite. So easy to make and adapt to your taste!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 pinch Chili Powder, to taste
  • 1 whole Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1 cup Salsa (picante)
  • 4 ounces, weight Canned Chopped Green Chilies
  • 1 package Premade Pie Crusts (2 Crusts)

Preparation

Brown ground beef with chili powder and onion. Drain if needed. Add salsa and green chilis to meat and stir.

Place one pie crust on an ungreased cookie sheet. You can also use a pie dish if desired. Spoon meat mixture evenly onto crust to within 3/4″ of edge. Top with the second crust. Seal edges and cut slits on top. Bake for 17 to 25 minutes at the temperature indicated on the pie crust package, or until golden brown.

We sometimes add shredded cheese, black olives, black beans or corn to the meat mixture. Use whatever you prefer.

You can serve this with shredded lettuce, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, etc.

I tried this one tonight. We all liked it a lot. It was a fun way to change our taco night. I didn’t have any green chilies, but everything else was the same as the recipe.

We served it with a big green salad with lots of veggies and a salsa/ranch dressing.

Thank you for a novel and good recipe.
