The fiddling of the frying and the turning every 15 minutes is worth every ounce of effort when you take the first bite. Your recipe has replaced my own. This is the only sweet and sour chicken I make now. Thanks again for sharing!

This is still my favorite recipe that I have made (many times) from Tasty Kitchen!! So worth the effort!! (and gets easier every time you make it!!)

This is my favorite recipe from Tasty Kitchen. Like the others, it is definitely worth the first portion of making it and it truly does get easier. Tastes better than most of the sweet and sour chicken at chinese restaurants.

This is one of the only things that everyone in my house will for sure eat! After the first couple of times making it, it goes together very easily.

This is the best recipe on Tasty Kitchen! And Mary is right-it gets easier everytime you make it. My honey asks for this for dinner at least one night a week and requests it for lunch on the weekends. It’s delicious. I only use 1/2 of sugar instead of 3/4 in the sauce though.

This was absolutely delicious. Certainly a little messy in the prep, but totally worth it. I didn’t have Garlic salt, so I minced up a large garlic clove and added that. I also thinly sliced some red pepper and placed it on top of the chicken for the last 15/20 mins or so. It added even more flavor.
Also- I may have cut my pieces too small, but I only needed 45 mins in the oven. The sauce is simple and delicious as well.

I’ve never left a comment or review on here before, but I had to for this! It was AMAZING! Everyone in the house inhaled it, and my husband has already asked me to make it again. It was worth every second of prep work. It tastes better than the takeout kind.

This recipe is great. It’s a little work-intensive, but it is certainly easy and I got the feeling it was hard to mess up. It turned out to be really delicious, my husband liked it. Next time I’ll experiment with a little less sugar.

This recipe tastes delicious. It is a little high maintenance, yes, but it tastes great! I added some red pepper flakes to the sauce before pouring it over the chicken to give it a little kick. I served it over rice with some steamed asparagus. A great meal!

Delicious and easy to make! Recipe works wonderfully. Even my picky 9 year old loved this sweet and sour chicken. Thanks for a great recipe! I’m going to try more recipes from your blog!

We made this last night and it’s the first recipe that’s ever inspired me to come back and write a review.
Probably the BEST sweet and sour chicken we’ve had. It was so easy to make and because we were short on time I cooked it more in the skillet and only put it in the oven for 30 minutes. Still delicious!
I highly recommend making extra sauce. It was so good!
This is absolutely going into our regular rotation of recipes and may be tweaked a bit to add green bell pepper, onion and some pineapple chunks.

Okay, my review reflects my newness to this site. I found this recipe hard! The whole process of rolling the chicken in cornstarch, then egg, then pan frying in oil…was time consuming…not to mention the cutting up of the chicken. Also, very messy! But that might be better the next time the more often you make it.
I also found myself having to go back & reread the recipe for the sauce as the directions weren’t clear & I was getting a bit confused reading the amounts because it gives both the ounces, cups & table spoons…it would be helpful to new members if the recipe stated 9 oz instead of 1 cup, 1 oz and add + plus signs instead of commas so that you can feel more confident about adding the table spoons & teaspoons.
Anyways, the recipe looks delicious, my kids are drooling waiting for it to finish cooking in the oven & I am looking forward to tasting it. The sauce does taste delicious!
I appreciate you sharing the recipe…but I woudn’t rate this as easy…especially for newbies.

Yum!! I made this tonight for a dinner party and it was great! Very straightforward directions and a simple list of ingredients. Next time, I will try it with the extra sauce.

I made this tonight for dinner. It tasted fabulous!!! The cornstarch/egg was kinda messy, but it was worth it!!
I prefer it over my own sweet and sour chicken as my usual has a batter and it deep fried. This was lighter. Thanks for sharing!

This recipe is fantastic! We made it last night for dinner and everyone devoured it! We can’t get any Chinese food in our small little town so this just made my day!

Holy crap, this was really yummy. My husband wants it every day now. I did add pineapple and green pepper – made my fried rice. Thank you for sharing!
