Description

This recipe involves a slow cooker … a bit of beef … a smidgen of spices … and a lot of taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds To 3 Pounds Beef Tenderloin, Roast, Or Other Favorite Cut
  • ½ cups Water
  • 1 teaspoon Each Salt, Italian Seasoning, Thyme, Paprika, And Cumin
  • ½ teaspoons Each Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, White Pepper, And Ground Red Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Cayenne Pepper

Preparation

Place beef in the slow cooker, fatty side on top. Pour water over the top. Mix together all of the spices, and pour evenly over the top of the beef. Cook on low for 7-8 hours. Shred and mix with juices before serving.

This spice rub would be amazing with just about any meat! We’ve served it plain, in pasta, in BBQ sandwiches, and on top of salad. The possibilities are endless!

This was really easy for me to throw in the slow cooker, head to work, and come home to a meal ready to go. The beef had a really good flavor. Next time, I will probably use brisket instead of a round roast, as my round roast was a little tough after I shredded it.

Very good! I made this with a Beef Bottom Round Roast. The piece of meat I had didn’t have as much fat on the bottom as I would have liked, but it turned out great.

The little bit that was leftover was gone later the same evening. We ate the beef as a sandwich using a variety of condiments: BBQ sauce, steak sauce, mustard, ketchup, spicy brown mustard. Everyone loved it!

Question: what’s the difference between Ground Red Pepper and Cayenne Pepper? My container had both names on it so I just used 3/4 teaspoon. Am I missing something?
