Description

Sweet and savory, this easy pulled pork recipe takes only 10 minutes to prep and is ready when you get home from a busy day at work.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE PORK:
  • 1 whole Yellow Onion, Chopped
  • 1 can (12 Oz. Size) Root Beer
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 4 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cups Paprika
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 5 pounds Pork Shoulder
  • 10  Hamburger Buns
  • FOR THE SLAW:
  • ½ heads Purple Cabbage, Shredded
  • 2 whole Carrots, Grated
  • ½ cups Mayonnaise
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ½ teaspoons Celery Salt

Preparation

For the pork:
Add chopped onions and root beer into a large slow cooker.

In a separate bowl, mix salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, brown sugar, paprika and olive oil until well combined.

Coat pork shoulder with mixture and place in slow cooker. Set to low heat, cover and cook for 8 hours.

For the purple slaw:
Set shredded cabbage and grated carrots aside.

In a large bowl combine remaining slaw ingredients until mixed well. Add the cabbage and carrots and mix until fully combined. Refrigerate until served.

After 8 hours the pork should “pull apart” easily with a fork. Pull apart remaining chunks to create shredded pieces. Serve pork on sandwich buns with your favorite BBQ sauce. Top with a spoonful of slaw.
