Description

Sloppy Joe sandwiches are a go-to in my family. We don’t necessarily eat them often, but it is that recipe that you can always fall back on when in need. Another favorite, at least for my husband, is a Philly Cheese Steak. In order to satisfy both desires, Sloppy Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches were created.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Black Angus
  • ½  Medium Yellow Onion, Coarsely Chopped
  • ¼  Green Bell Pepper, Coarsely Chopped
  • ¼ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Black Pepper
  • ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Steak Sauce
  • 4  Sandwich Rolls, Split Sandwich Style
  • 4 slices Cheese, I Used Provolone

Preparation

1. Using your hands, crumble the beef into a large skillet. Add the onion, bell pepper, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Cover with a lid and cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, breaking the meat up more as it cooks. Continue cooking with the lid on the pan until the meat is browned and the onions are tender, approximately 10 minutes.
2. Stir the sauces into the meat, making sure to thoroughly distribute. Cover and reduce heat to low, simmering for 5 minutes.
3. Spoon meat onto the bottom half of each roll and top with a slice of cheese. Place the open faced sandwiches on a baking tray and place it under a broiler for 30 seconds, or less. You just want to heat it long enough for the cheese to melt. Top with the other half of the bun and enjoy!
