Description

This is our family recipe – a redo of a classic.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 whole Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1 whole Celery Stalk, Chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 26 ounces, fluid Ketchup
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • ½ Tablespoons Dry Mustard

Preparation

Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Once browned, add it to a large pot. Add all of the remaining ingredients into the pot with the ground beef and simmer on low for an hour. Serve on buns.

This turned out better than I expected! Our family is Gluten Free, so this was the first time I have made Sloppy Joes from scratch. Until now, we have just gone without. I whipped it up quickly tonight and the whole family loved it. I did add a few cloves of chopped garlic, as well as some salt, because it was a little sweet (probably due to the ketchup). But, even with the changes, there wasn’t anything left at the end of dinner! Thank you for posting this!
