Description

Instead of your traditional NY strip or ribeye, why not opt for Tuna Steaks on the grill? If you go for sushi-style rare in the middle, they are super quick and easy on the grill. For those who like their meat well done, leave on the grill a little longer and still get great flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Tuna Steaks, Approximately 6 Ounces Each
  • ¼ cups Sesame Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Coarsely Ground Peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ cups Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Prepared Wasabi

Preparation

Dip each filet into the sesame oil so it is well coated on all sides.

Mix up your ground peppercorns and salt and spread the mixture out on a small plate. Dip each filet into the mixture so that they form a thick crust on both sides. Add more peppercorns if need be to ensure the tuna is well crusted on both sides.

Heat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400 degrees).

Sear the tuna steaks on each side for no longer than 2.5 minutes per side.

Serve with low sodium soy sauce and wasabi. The tuna will be rare (sushi style) in the middle and seared on the outside. If you do not like rare tuna then cook the steaks longer on the grill to your desired doneness.

This dish is great paired with a spicy coleslaw.
