Description

This is a family pleasing dish. And it doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare. That makes you want to try it, doesn’t it!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cups Diced Celery
  • ½ cups Finely Diced Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon Margarine
  • 1 pound Pork Sausage; Mild Or Spicy
  • 1 envelope (about 2 Oz. Envelope) Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup Mix
  • 1 cup Rice (white Or Brown)

Preparation

Saute celery and onion in margarine until tender. Then add in sausage and cook until no longer pink.

While veggies and sausage are cooking, prepare the soup according to package directions.

In a greased casserole dish, spread the rice on the bottom of the dish. Next evenly, spread the sausage mixture over the rice. Last, pour chicken soup over all.

Bake in a 350ºF oven for 45 minutes or until rice is cooked.

I’m super frustrated about this recipe. I have tried to make it twice but the rice always comes out way undercooked, andtake double the time. I followed the directions exactly. Is it supposed to be covered while baking? I’ve NEVER made rice without the need to cover it to retain the liquid.

I’m assuming you prepare the chicken soup packet and that is the liquid you use to pour over and cook the rice?

This recipe sounds great, one question though: do you cook the rice before adding it to the dish?

We loved this. We added some Sweet and Sour sauce to it the next day, so yummy!
