Description

Oven BBQ chicken dish.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Flour
  • Pepper To Taste
  • 2 whole Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil
  • 1 whole Medium Onion, Diced
  • ½ cups Ketchup
  • ½ cups BBQ Sauce (I Use KC Masterpiece Original)
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • ⅓ cups Brown Sugar

Preparation

1. Mix flour and pepper, dredge the chicken in the mixture, then saute the chicken in a bit of oil in a large, deep skillet. When browned on both sides remove to a deep casserole dish with a lid.
2. Add the onion to the skillet and saute until soft.
3. In a large bowl combine the ketchup, BBQ sauce, water and Worcestershire sauce, whisking to blend.
4. Add the brown sugar to the onion in the skillet and blend with juices. Add the ketchup mix, and bring to a boil. Immediately pour over chicken.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Note: The sauce will initially be very thin, but will thicken up in the oven. Great served over rice or mashed potatoes (see Garlic Smashed Red Potatoes recipe)

This chicken is so good! I usually don’t change anything when trying a new recipe but we like spicy so I added some crushed red pepper in step 4.
Will definitely make this again.
