My favorite chili topped with sour cream, cheddar, bacon and green onions.

Ingredients

  • ½ Tablespoons Bacon Fat Or Olive Oil
  • 1 whole Large Yellow Onion, Diced
  • 2 pounds Any Ground Beef
  • 1 leaf (29 Oz Size) Tomato Sauce
  • 2 cans (15 Oz. Size) Pinto Beans, Drained And Rinsed
  • 1 can (15 Oz. Size) Kidney Beans, Drained And Rinsed
  • 1 Tablespoon Chili Powder (I Like Ancho Chili Powder)
  • 2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 dashes Cayenne Pepper (or More To Taste)
  • 1 dash Celery Salt, Or More To Taste
  • FOR THE TOPPINGS:
  • Sour Cream, to taste
  • Cheddar Cheese, to taste
  • 6 slices Cooked Bacon, Crumbled
  • 2 whole Green Onions, Sliced

Preparation

Heat the bacon fat or olive oil in a large (5-quart) Dutch oven or pot over medium heat. Sauté diced onions until they are soft and translucent (not browned). Add in the ground beef and cook thoroughly. Next add the sauce, beans and seasonings. Stir, cover and let simmer over medium-low for twenty minutes.

Serve with a dollop of sour cream, a little cheddar and crumbled bacon pieces then sprinkle with sliced green onions. Enjoy!

My 10yr old son HATES soup, but even he loved this chili! I made it almost exactly like it said, only holding back a teaspoon of salt and all the cayenne (feeding kids here..). I was glad I didn’t use as much salt, since I didn’t feel it really needed that much. We loved it! It’s an easy recipe to adapt if you like more or less chili powder or cayenne. We will definitely make it again!

This is a great and easy chili! I made it for a party on Saturday night and it went fast! It has the flavors of chili without the “burn.” Thank you for sharing!

Ridiculously Tasty! The whole family kept raving about it and labeled it “Gourmet Chili”! I only added some garlic powder and I can’t make chili without ground oregano (it’s just family tradition)! This will be my new go-to chili recipe. Oh and the toppings are perfect icing on the chili joy!
