Description

This pasta dish tastes just like a sausage pizza… only much better! It’s so worth all the calories!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Cut Ziti
  • 1 pound Bulk Mild Italian Sausage
  • 2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 1 cup Chicken Stock
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1-½ cup Shredded Mozzarella
  • ½ cups Italian Shredded Cheese Blend Or Grated Parmesan
  • 15 ounces, weight Can Of Italian Diced Tomatoes (with Garlic, Basil And Oregano)
  • 1 dash Salt
  • 1 dash Pepper
  • 1 dash Hot Sauce (Tabasco)
  • Extra Mozzarella And Parmesan, Shredded, For Topping

Preparation

First, preheat your broiler.

Get a big pot of water boiling, add salt and cook your pasta to al dente, or according to package directions. Drain and set aside.

Brown and crumble sausage in a skillet over medium heat and then, once browned, set it aside on a paper-towel lined plate.

Add olive oil and butter to pan. Add flour and cook for 2 minutes. Whisk in the chicken stock and stir in the heavy cream. Bring it to a bubble and then add 1 ½ cups mozzarella and ½ cup of parmesan. When the cheese is all melted, add the tomatoes, salt, pepper, Tabasco and sausage.

Grab a casserole dish a put the pasta in the bottom. Pour the sauce over it and give it a good stir to evenly coat the pasta. Sprinkle some mozzarella and parmesan on top and put it under the broiler for a few minutes to get it brown and bubbly.

You’ll need more than one helping for sure! Enjoy!
