Description

Smoky, sweet and salty! These adorable little pizzas have it all!

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Granny Smith Apple, Cored And Sliced
  • ½ whole Red Onion, Sliced
  • ¼ cups Demerara Sugar
  • ½ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 whole Pinch Of Cloves
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Ginger
  • ¾ teaspoons Crushed Chili Pepper Flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Minced, Divided
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 whole Pita Breads
  • 4 slices Bacon, Cooked Until Crispy Then Crumbled
  • ¾ cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Place the onion and apple in a large bowl. Add sugar, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, chili pepper flakes, salt and 2 cloves of garlic. Toss to coat.

Melt butter and 1 Tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add apple and onion mixture and sauté until the apples are tender. About five minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Brush the pitas with the rest of the olive oil and sprinkle with the remainder of the garlic.

Top pitas with apples and onions and sprinkle with cheese and bacon.

Bake in the oven for five minutes then turn the oven to broil (keeping a close eye on them) for 1-2 minutes.

Slice into quarters and serve.
