Description

Yummy baked meatballs in a light creamy dill sauce. A family favorite!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE MEATBALLS:
  • 1-½ pound Lean Ground Beef
  • ¾ cups Quick Oats
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¼ cups Finely Diced Onion
  • ¼ cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Dry Parsley
  • _____
  • FOR THE SAUCE:
  • ¼ cups Butter
  • 7 Tablespoons Flour
  • 2 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 2 teaspoons Dry Dill
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper

Preparation

For the meatballs:
Mix meatball ingredients. Form in balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Line with foil for easier clean up. Bake at 400F for about 18 minutes, shaking occasionally.

For the sauce:
Melt butter in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over medium heat. Whisk in flour, then broth and milk. Whisk and cook till bubbly. Boil for at least 1 minute, stirring constantly. (Don’t skip this step or your sauce will have a floury taste. Not good.) Stir in seasonings, then the hot meatballs.

Serve over hot pasta.

yummy recipe! I served it over mashed potatoes since I didn’t have noodles and it was great. Make sure you salt the sauce really well especially if you are using low sodium chicken broth and unsalted butter. I used both and it was bland until I added more salt to the sauce. comfort food at it’s best!

This was an odd dish. I liked it, but it wasn’t popular for the crowd. The amount of leftovers made me think people were uncertain about the white sauce. But they were quite good – depends on who you’re cooking for I guess.

Awesome! We loved the dill flavor with zesty, parsley infused meatballs. It reminds me of Swedish meatballs my grandma used to make! So easy and delicious to boot. This one will stay in my recipe box! :) Thanks for sharing!
