Description

Great pasta dish, total comfort food!

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 3 pieces Hot Italian Sausage
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil Or Butter, Divided Use
  • ½ cups Mushrooms
  • 1 can (7 Oz. Size) Artichoke Hearts
  • 1 pound Pasta
  • ¼ cups Fresh Basil Leaves, Chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Salt, Or To Taste
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Or To Taste
  • ¼ cups Shredded Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

Place tomato sauce in large saucepan on medium heat. Add Italian seasoning, sugar and salt and pepper to taste. Heat this mixture while you prepare the other ingredients.

Slice sausage into chunks. Heat a skillet with a teaspoon or so of olive oil, add sausage and fry over medium heat until carmelized. Remove sausage and set aside. Add about a teaspoon of butter to the pan and add sliced mushrooms and drained artichoke hearts. Saute until soft. Add sausage and veggies to the simmering sauce.

Cook pasta in salted water according to package directions

Drain pasta when al dente. Right before serving, add basil to sauce and then pour sauce on top of pasta, top with shredded Parmesan.
