Description

Semi-homemade pasta with a twist! A few extra steps take canned sauce to another level!

Ingredients

  • 1 box 32 Oz. Noodles
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 whole Onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 1 jar 26 Oz Marinara Sauce
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Capers
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Oregano
  • 4 leaves Fresh Basil
  • 2 cups Asiago Cheese

Preparation

All of my ingredients measurements can be adjusted to taste!

Boil water on the stove to cook a 32 ounce box of pasta – your choice. I used Radiatore noodles in this picture. Follow instructions on box for cook time.

On the stovetop, heat 3 or so tablespoons of olive oil – use more or less depending on your tastes. Chop your garlic and onions and add to hot oil to saute. Do not burn the garlic! Once it’s browned (but not burnt), add the jar of marinara sauce. (You can use plain sauce, or a ‘flavored’ sauce. Sometimes I used a garlic and onion sauce and still will add my own. It is OK!)

Bring the sauce to a bubble and then turn heat to low. Add the sugar and pepper; mix in well. Add in capers, basil and oregano. For the herbs, just rip with your hands – no need to chop with a knife.

Once noodles are done, strain and add into your pot of sauce. Mix well and enjoy! I top mine off with Asiago cheese.
