Description

This comes together easily for a hearty meal that’s sure to warm your family’s tummies!

Ingredients

  • 8 whole Wheat Hot Dog Buns
  • Mayonnaise, Mustard And Sweet Relish (amounts Based On Your Preference)
  • 8 whole Hot Dogs
  • 2 cans (15 Oz. Size) Hormel Chili Masters (Roasted Tomato Is The BEST!)
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • ½ whole Onion, finely chopped

Preparation

Spread mayonnaise on the inside of each hot dog bun. Add sweet relish and a stripe of yellow mustard. Note: even if you don’t normally like this on your hot dogs, please don’t skip this step. It is crucial to the end flavor of the dish! Fill the buns with the hot dogs and tightly squeeze them all into a 9×13 pan. (I did 6 down one side and 2 along the edge).

Top hot dogs with chili, cheese and diced onion. Cover the pan with a sheet of foil and bake at 350 F for 45 minutes.

Enjoy!

Made these today using all beef hot dogs and no bean Hormel chili. They were amazing! Tasted better than just regular chili dogs. Will definitely make them again :)

We used regular Hormel chili and this was a home run success! I love how the buns, despite all of the gooey cheese and sloppy chili, came out crispy and delicious. The only downside is that I was cooking for two and I didn’t downsize the recipe at all, but that’s totally my fault. Really loved this approach to making chili dogs – only one pan to clean up! We used Oscar Meyer’s all natural smoked and uncured hotdogs, half were the New York garlic seasons and half were the Chicago tomato/dill/onion seasoned. Great recipe, thanks for sharing!

I used turkey dogs and chili. Pretty good.
