Description

Open-faced burgers topped with caramelized onions and crumbled blue cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 1  Egg
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Ground Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 whole Red Onion, Sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • ¼ cups Light Mayonnaise
  • 4 slices Whole Wheat Bread, Toasted
  • Mixed Greens Or Lettuce
  • 1 cup Crumbled Blue Cheese

Preparation

To prepare the patties:
Combine ground beef, garlic, egg, salt and pepper in a bowl. With you hands, mix meat and season well. Divide into 4 equal-portioned round patties. Set aside.

To caramelize onions:
Heat a medium skillet over low heat. Add butter and melt. Next, add the red onions. Add brown sugar. Toss to combine the ingredients, and then allow the onions to caramelize over low heat for about 20 minutes, tossing occasionally.

While the onions are caramelizing, place the patties on a pre-heated grill pan or skillet over medium to medium-low heat. Grill the burgers for about 5 minutes per side. Cook longer if you prefer a well-done patty.

Assemble the burgers:
1. Spread mayo over the toasted bread.
2. Next, add mixed greens and add the cooked patty on top.
3. Top with caramelized onions.
4. Sprinkle crumbled blue cheese on top.
5. Serve with salad or fries.
6. Enjoy!

Hi, yes add the 1 egg to the meat mixture. Sorry about that, I must have overlooked and forgot to mention the egg :)

The ingredient list calls for 1 egg, but it’s not mentioned in the directions. Add it to the meat mixture, I assume?
