Brown ground beef in skillet. Drain off fat and put beef in slow cooker. Cut bacon into 1″ pieces and brown in the same skillet. Add to slow cooker. Cook chopped onions in the bacon fat until translucent and soft. Add to slow cooker. Dump the rest of the ingredients into the slow cooker and stir together well. Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours.
Notes:
You’ll need a 6-quart slow cooker for the amounts in this recipe, however you can easily cut everything in half and use a smaller one. I make big batch because the leftovers are fantastic, and guests like to take some home.
You can decrease the fat content by draining the fat off before adding to the slow cooker or you can go all PW and include the bacon grease for added flavor.
Sometimes I throw the onions in with the bacon after it starts to render its fat and cook them together instead of separately. It’s yummy both ways.
