Description

These pork chops have so much flavor from the mustard and caramelized onions. They are quick, easy and a nice change from boring breaded pork chops.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Boneless Pork Chops
  • 2 whole Onions
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ cups Dried Bread Crumbs
  • 2 Tablespoons Prepared Grainy Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Dried Mustard
  • 1 dash Pepper
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil

Preparation

Caramelize the onions, by slicing them up and putting them in a pan with a tablespoon of olive oil and cooking them over a low heat, stirring occasionally. When they turn a light brown color, they are done. It takes 30+ minutes for the onions to caramelize on a low heat.

Beat the egg. Add the prepared mustard and honey to the egg and mix well. Add the dried mustard and pepper to the bread crumbs and combine well.

First, dip the pork chops in the egg and mustard mixture and then in the bread crumb mixture. Shake off any excess bread crumbs. Cook the pork chops on medium heat in a frying pan with a few tablespoons of oil. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side until the bread crumbs are nicely toasted. Transfer the pork chops to a baking dish and top with the caramelized onions. Bake at 350 degrees until the temperature of the meat reaches 160.

I made this over the past weekend and it was great! I will definitely be making this again – and I might try the suggestion from Carolinakateo2 about trying on chicken as well.

Thanks so much for posting this!

I tried this last night and it was delicious! I think next time I won’t carmelize my onions as much because they got pretty black during the cooking process in the oven but overall this meal was delicious! Will definitely make again!

This is my go-to meal when having guests over because I can’t imagine anyone not liking this. The breading would be great for making chicken as well. I like to make this with breakfast pork chops and they seem to cook a little better- when I did it with regular pork chops it took about an hour and a half to cook if I remember correctly.
