Description

A fall favorite. The whole family loves this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¾ cups Milk
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • ½ cups Quick Cooking Oats
  • ½ cups Chopped Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • ⅔ cups Ketchup
  • ½ cups Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1-½ teaspoon Prepared Mustard

Preparation

In a bowl, beat the egg and milk. Stir in cheese, oats, onion and salt. Add beef and mix well. Shape into 6 to 8 loaves. Place in a greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Combine ketchup, brown sugar and mustard. Spoon over loaves. Bake uncovered at 350F for 45 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.

I usually double this recipe.

These are yummy! I make it with ground turkey and it is still very delicious and flavorful. Thanks for the recipe!

Glad it turned out. My kids do the “happy dance” whenever I make this for dinner. I usually make it with extra lean ground beef. I think the fact that the sauce covers them since they are small really helps them taste great.

I just made these for dinner and they such a big hit with my family, even my pickiest girl!

I left out the onion because I didn’t have any, and I was out of oatmeal so I had to use bread crumbs, but next time I will try it as written. I also used ground turkey instead because my husband just got a high cholesterol reading.

Anyway, I know it sounds silly after making all those changes, but this recipe was really delicious, and I’ll definitely be making it again!
