I might have to say “Mediterranean” is my favorite kind of food. (Luckily, that encompasses Italy, Morocco, Greece, Sicily, France, Sardinia, etc.) But serioulsy, the flavors make me the happiest and I typically keep many of them in my kitchen! That’s how these became my favorite Sunday afternoon on the grill burger.
1) Heat a charcoal grill to medium/high heat.
2) Combine turkey, lamb, Worcestershire, egg, garlic, red onion, feta cheese and mint in a bowl. Pull into fist-sized pieces and roll into balls. Smoosh lightly into patties, and be sure to keep a deep dimple in the center. (This keeps the patties moist!)
3) If you need to make tzatziki quickly, simply combine the tzatziki ingredients together.
4) If you need to make olive tapenade quickly, combine the olives and garlic in a food processor. Blend until smooth and drizzle olive oil in as needed to thin.
5) Cook burgers on the grill ALMOST to desired temperature, and add a sun dried tomato on top for the last 2 minutes or so on the grill.
6) Toast buns on the grill for 10-15 seconds. Spread tops with tzatziki, and the bottoms with olive tapenade, before adding the burger in between. Top with arugula and ENJOY!
