Description

Quick, easy marinade for flank steak. This has been a family favorite for all my life (it was my mother’s) and I’ve never failed to get compliments when I grill it for company. I imagine it would be good with chicken, too.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ pound Flank Steak
  • ¾ cups Vegetable Oil
  • ¼ cups Soy Sauce
  • ¼ cups Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Vinegar
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 bunch Green Onions, Chopped, Including Some Of The Greens
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger

Preparation

Score the flank steak in a diamond pattern on both sides. Combine all the rest of the ingredients and put in a heavy plastic bag with the flank steak and refrigerate. (The longer you can marinate this, the better – I try to get it started the day before I’m going to cook it, but it’s still good even if you only let it marinate for 4-6 hours.)

Once your grill is hot, grill to taste – I like medium rare, which is probably 5-6 minutes a side, but my husband likes his done a little more than that.

Slice VERY thin. This is one of the few times I use an electric knife to slice meat. Serve it up!

This makes excellent sandwiches cold, if you ever manage to have leftovers.
