Description

A tasty blend of your favorite marinara and pesto sauces!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • ½ cups Diced Onion
  • ½ pounds Italian Sausage, Casings Removed
  • 1 teaspoon Chopped Garlic
  • ½ cups Dry Red Wine
  • 1 jar (24 Oz. Size) Marinara Sauce
  • 3 Tablespoons Pesto Or To Taste
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste
  • Red Pepper Flakes To Taste (optional)
  • ½ pounds Pasta
  • Parmesan Cheese, To Serve

Preparation

Preheat a large saute pan (I like to use one with tall sides) with olive oil over medium heat. Saute onions until soft. Add sausage and brown, breaking into small peices. Add garlic and cook just until fragrant, about 30-45 seconds.

Add red wine to the sausage, onions and garlic, scraping up any brown bits from the bottom of the pan. Add your favorite marinara sauce and pesto, adding more to taste. Heat through and season with salt and pepper if needed. I also like to add some red pepper flakes.

Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain well. Pour sauce over pasta, garnish with Parmesan cheese and serve!

4 Mitts for this one… It’s an easy, quick, and delicious weeknight meal. I use bulk Italian style chicken sausage rather than links w/ the casings removed; the result is more or less and american style meat sauce with pesto added… which provides a decidedly different and great flavor. Thanks ekstark89!
