Description

A lighter version of one of America’s favorite dishes!

Ingredients

  • ½ pounds Pasta (traditionally Made With Elbow Macaronis, But I Used Gemellis)
  • 2 cups Saltine Crackers, Crushed
  • 3-½ cups Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
  • 3 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Unmelted Butter
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ cups Milk
  • ¼ Tablespoons Salt
  • ¼ Tablespoons Pepper
  • ¼ Tablespoons Red Pepper Flakes

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Boil a pot of water to cook your pasta in. While that’s heating grease a standard sized baking dish (I used a round dish but an 8×8 square would work as well).

Cook pasta according to package instructions for al dente, then drain and set aside.

In a bowl combine crushed saltine crackers, 1/2 of the cheese, and the melted butter. Mix to combine, then add half of the mixture to the bottom of your baking dish.

Add cooked pasta to a separate bowl, and add in the rest of your cheese as well as your un-melted butter. Mix to combine, then crack in your egg and add in your milk, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes. Give it a good mix to make sure everything is evenly coated. Add it all to your baking dish and top off with your remaining cracker mixture. Lightly spray the top with cooking spray and bake in the oven for 25 minutes.

Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then slice up and serve!
