Description

A very simple and easy meal I received from my dear mother-in-law.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Elbow Macaroni
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • ¼ teaspoons Seasoning Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Onion Powder
  • 46 ounces, fluid Tomato Juice
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Black Pepper

Preparation

In a large pot, cook macaroni according to package directions. Meanwhile, in another large pot, cook ground beef until browned. While the meat is cooking, season with seasoning salt and onion powder to your taste. When the meat is done, drain off the grease. Add the tomato juice and stir. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer until macaroni is done. Drain water from pasta and add to the meat and tomato juice. Serve with garlic bread and enjoy!

I make this all the time. It is so simple, quick and yummy. I use tomatoe sauce, red pepper flakes, and diced tomatoes in it. Sometimes I add a little chili pepper to it. In fact, I am making this for supper tonight.

We call this slumgullium. Instead of onion powder – we add a chopped onion. Instead of tomato juice – we add a can of diced tomatoes. Quick, easy and very tasty!! Hmmm, sounds like dinner this evening!

This is very similar to my mom’s recipe for Goulash. She doesn’t use onion powder though. She cuts up an onion (or a half an onion, I don’t remember) and throws it in there. I love the added crunch. yum!
