Description

I first had a sandwich like this at a local restaurant, and realized that I had to come up with my own version. It’s such an unusual mixture of ingredients that most people will probably be hesitant at first. But trust me when I say it’s DELICIOUS!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Crusty Bread
  • 4 slices Deli Turkey Or Chicken
  • 3 slices Colby Jack Or Cheddar Cheese
  • 4 slices Very Thinly-sliced Apples (Granny Smith Apples Work Best)
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter Or Margarine
  • 1 Tablespoon Apple Butter

Preparation

Spread bread slices with butter or margarine. On one slice, also spread a good helping of apple butter. Pile your meat on one slice of bread and top with the apple slices. Place the cheese on top.

This sandwich can be served cold, but is also tasty when served hot and toasted. Enjoy!

I made this last night when a friend came over. After burning the side dish, and realizing that I had bought granny smith apples, I was a little concerned how the sandwiches were going to turn out. But thankfully the sandwiches turned out well – especially warmed in the oven for a few minutes. Great recipe!

Man oh man, I just came home with turkey, sharp cheddar and orchard apples. I didnt even look to see if you put any condiment or anything..just slapped it on a Hawaiian roll. Oh wow…this was so very good. You have to get orchard apples freshly picked! I am a minimalist at times. The best things dont need much help…but when you know what to put together…well its a good thing! Thanks for the suggestion.

i’ve had something like this, only with pears … such a great way to add a little extra fruit to a meal.

I used to work at a local tea shop, and we served a sandwich like this, except we used raisin bread with the turkey, apples, apple butter, and we used a locally-made sharp white cheddar. Grilled on a panini press, this is truly delish!

I had a sandwich like this a few months ago at a local restaurant, but the cheese was breaded and fried and it used a grilled chicken breast instead of deli sliced chicken. It was spectacular. This has inspired me to try it at home!

I made this yesterday as a step-up from my normal grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. With some turkey, colby jack cheese, and orchard fresh apple, it was delish! I didn’t have any apple butter so I just used a little mayo, but I’m sure the apple butter would have been even better.
