Description

Easy, filling, and makes great leftovers. This is a classic Stroganoff with a healthier twist. Ground turkey substituted for steak or ground beef. A family favorite!

Ingredients

  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 pound Ground Turkey
  • 1 whole Onion, Chopped
  • 8 ounces, weight Mushrooms, Sliced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1 container 16 Oz Sour Cream
  • 1 cup Beef Stock
  • ¼ cups Flour
  • ¼ teaspoons Freshly Ground Pepper
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ pounds Egg Noodles

Preparation

Heat butter in large skillet over medium heat. Cook ground turkey just till browned, then add onion and mushrooms. When onions start looking translucent add minced garlic and cook for about a minute longer.

In a small mixing bowl, add the sour cream, beef stock (I like this better than bouillon!), flour, pepper and salt. Whisk till smooth.

Boil a pot of water for cooking pasta. Add salt when water is at a rolling boil. Cook noodles according to package instructions.

Add sour cream mixture to the pan of sauce(or for a lighter version, use plain yogurt). Cook and stir till thickened. Add 4 cups cooked egg noodles and mix gently until combined.

Stroganoff is one of my boyfriend’s favorites. I’m usually pretty confident winging that sort of recipe, but I like to find look for recpes in the hopes of learning something new. The only alteration I made was in using slightly less sour cream, but the result was still so yummy and creamy.

On a side note, in the preparation instructions, you neglected to mention when to add the flour. Most people who have made gravy or a sauce before will figure it out, but y0u might update the instructions.

My review–4 out of 5 stars, very yummy!

I love beef stroganoff. I bought ground turkey to try this and I was disappointed. Flavor is more subtle and next time I may add more Alpine seasoning. Great alternative to beef! Thanks for sharing!

Delicious weeknight dinner! I too added some additional seasoning to taste-just salt and pepper-but it was a quick and easy, very satisfying dinner! I did substitute yogurt for the sour cream, which I’ve never done before, but it was still VERY delicious-not missing a thing!

I liked it, though felt it was a bit on theplain side…. I added some seasoning spice, garlic powder, and paprika, and topped it off with parmesean cheeze. Served it with peas. I’m looking forward to try it tomorrow night when the flavors get a better chance to marry.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! Everyone loved it (well, except for the one that doesn’t seem to like ground meat/noodle/white-colored sauce dishes). I had cooked up 12 lbs. of ground turkey and needed a recipe for dinner (the rest went into the freezer). Glad to have found your recipe — thanks for posting it.
