Description

This a great hearty main course meal that will feed a lot for very little money. You can add more pinto beans to the recipe to feed a few more guests. Paired with cornbread (we love Mexican cornbread) and a tossed salad, you will have a quick and easy dinner for any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 whole Medium Yellow Onion, Chopped Finely
  • 2 cans (15 Oz. Can) Pinto Beans
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Pepper
  • 3 Tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

Preparation

Brown ground beef in a large skillet. Add onions and continue to cook until onions are translucent. When ground beef is cooked completely, drain excess grease, leaving just about a tablespoon of liquid in the skillet.

Return to the stovetop and add the canned pinto beans. Use the empty pinto bean can and add two cans of water to the skillet. Add salt and pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Loosely cover with a piece of aluminum foil. Let simmer at medium/low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring about every 8-10 minutes. Mixture will thicken.

Serve with a wedge of corn bread and a salad.

So glad you liked it! My mom always cooked this for us when we were growing up and now my family loves it too.

I’m the same way, I love adding my own twist to a recipe and this ones allows for lots of different changes.

Holy Frijoles….this was quick, easy, healthy, and tasty!! My family really enjoyed this…and I enjoyed making it. Because I can’t seem to ever leave a recipe alone I am going to try adding a few green chilies and maybe a little garlic on the next go around. Thank you for sharing!
