Description

This is a recipe I got from my mother-in-law over 15 years ago; I’ve only once deviated from this recipe … and was shot down. But honestly, I have it committed to my memory and could make it in my sleep. It is super yummy, cheesy and always a hit.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces, weight Elbow Macaroni
  • 8 ounces, weight Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 8 ounces, weight Medium Chedddar Cheese
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • ¼ cups Milk
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400F.
Cook macaroni noodles per package instructions.
While noodles are cooking, shred cheeses and mix together.
Cut butter into small pieces, at least 8.
Once noodles are done, drain them but do not rinse.
Put noodles immediately into a 9″ x 13″ baking dish.
Add cheese, milk and butter chunks, salt and pepper to your liking. (I like it very peppery.)
Stir to combine.
Cover dish with foil sprayed with cooking spray and bake for 20 minutes.
Now that the cheese has melted, take it out of the oven and stir to get everything combined.
Bake for an additional 15-20 more minutes without the foil so the top gets crispy.
Serve yourself first and enjoy.

Serve with Polska kielbasa sausage and French style green beans for a really comforting dinner.
